9th Kinotrip International Film Festival
The ninth edition of the Kinotrip International Film Festival, the biggest event of Kinodvor’s Kinotrip film programme – by the youth for the youth, took place between 17 and 19 October 2024. The diverse film programme was carefully selected by fifteen young members of the Kinotrip Film Club. In three dynamic days, they watched six feature films and a programme of short films. Almost 900 viewers, mostly young, joined them on their film trips.
They also invited interesting guests to the festival. Johnny Barrington, the director of the opening film Silent Roar (UK, 2023), and Dávid Mikulán, the director of the documentary KIX (Hungary / France / Croatia, 2024), thus came to Ljubljana. After the screening of My Summer with Irène (Carlo Sironi, Italy / France, 2024), the young talked with the film critic Petra Meterc and the director of photography Karin Petrič. On Saturday, after the screening of Power Alley (Lillah Halla, Brazil / France / Uruguay, 2023), which bravely plays with the traditional views on the autonomy of the female body, they were joined by the anthropologist and activist Nika Kovač.
This year’s edition of the festival was technically adapted to the deaf and hard of hearing: all films were shown with subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing and the talks were interpreted in Slovenian Sign Language and accompanied by live captions. Kinodvor will continue with the adaptations for the deaf and hard of hearing and other groups of viewers also in the future.
