7th Kinotrip International Film Festival
The seventh edition of the Kinotrip International Film Festival, the biggest event of Kinodvor’s Kinotrip film programme created by the youth for the youth, took place between 20 and 22 October 2022. The programme was carefully selected by nine young members of the Kinotrip Film Club. In three eventful days, they watched six features and a programme of shorts, while the audience award went to Olga, which, with its daring turns, took them into an exceptionally topical intertwinement of politics and sports.
At eight festival screenings, more than 800 visitors, most of them young, travelled across various film worlds. At the festival’s opening, they were joined by the young Ukrainian actress Anastasiia Budiashkina, who played the lead in Olga.
This year’s programme was strongly marked by the topic of diverse identities. Sun (Kurdwin Ayub, 2022) and Into My Name (Nicolò Bassetti, 2022) also explored this topic, each in its own way. After both films, the young talked with interesting guests from Slovenia. We were joined by the trans activist Evan Grm, film director and critic Simona Jerala and the Slovenian-Kurdish designer Hana Karim.
In addition to the film programme and talks, the young Kinotrip Film Club members also took care of the interesting introductions, thematic socialising and the musical closing of the festival.
This autumn also brought a few new episodes of the Kinotripping festival podcast. This year’s festival team hosted Benjamin Krnetić, Lina Akif, Suzana Tratnik, Evan Grm, Peter Cerovšek and Matevž Jerman. Together, they tripped on films, cinema and other topical issues related to this year’s programme and the broader young generation. You can still listen to them on Kinodvor’s website www.kinodvor.org/podkast-kinotripanje/ (in Slovenian language).
You can find many videos and photos from the 7th Kinotrip International Film Festival captured by students of the Ljubljana High School for Media and Graphic Technology on our website – here and Kinotrip’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
We thank all who helped create and spread the word about this year’s edition of the festival and invite you to join us on our journeys across different film worlds for the young also in the future.
Let film take you away!
Kinotrip’s seventh generation consists of Stela Artes Štern, Julija Bauer, Zala Humar, Zoja Klemenčič, Tatjana Kobe, Julija Pavlin Vodušek, Ajda Simčič, Ajda Varl and Zarja Žagar.
