5th Kinotrip International Film Festival
The 5th Kinotrip International Film Festival, the largest event of Kinodvor’s Kinotrip Film Programme – By the Youth for the Youth, took place for just one day, on 15 October 2020, as it closed prematurely due to the lockdown.
Nevertheless, it was a magical one day with two amazing film screenings: first, the Canadian film Goddess of the Fireflies (2019) by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, who joined us after the screening via Skype for a Q&A. The festival officially opened (and closed) with the German film Coocon (2020) by Leonie Krippendorff, who later also joined us for a Q&A via Skype. The evening concluded in the cinema café, all adorned in blue in line with the sailboat motif of this year’s edition.
Some of the announced film programme took place afterwards in different forms: the screening of the Belgian film Adoration (2019) by Fabrice du Welz happened as a special Kinotrip online event on the cinema’s VOD platform on 18 March 2021 with an additional screening on 6 April 2021. After the March screening, two members of the Kinotrip Film Club hosted a Q&A via Zoom with the film’s director Fabrice du Welz and the director of photography Manu Dacosse. The event was supported by the Kurja Polt Genre Film Festival and Semaine de la Francophonie.
The Kinotripie programme of short films was hosted by FeKK – Ljubljana Short Film Festival in the summer of 2021 and the screening of film White Riot took place in September 2021 as a pre-event of the sixth edition of the Kinotrip Film Festival.
As for the accompanying events, the presentation of the music videos made at the pre-festival workshop organized together with the Centre for Contemporary Arts – SCCA-Ljubljana and in collaboration with DIVA Station, Luksuz Production and The Kraken Society took place on 22 November 2020 as an online event hosted by the 18th Luksuz Cheap Film Festival. The premiere of the music videos was accompanied by a Q&A with the workshop participants and their mentors Matevž Jerman and Matic Zavodnik.
You can find videos and photos from the 5th Kinotrip International Film Festival captured by students of the Ljubljana High School for Media and Graphic Technology on our website and our Facebook and Instagram pages.
We thank all who helped create and spread the word about this year’s special edition of the festival and invite you to join us on our journeys across different film worlds for the young also in the future.
