The roundtable that took place on 25 March 2021 looked at responses to the pandemic by film educators from a variety of different contexts across Europe. It was hosted by Mark Reid, Head of Education at the British Film Institute. It opened with Nikki Parchment and Corinna Downing, from the BFI Schools programme, who talked about their digital ‘Close-Up’ programme for schools and teachers.
At the following session, Ivana Alpeza from the Seventh continent programme for schools and kindergartens in Croatia, and Barbara Kelbl, Head of Schools programme at Kinodvor, discussed some of the different ways in which their respective programmes went online whilst maintaining a focus on high quality experiences of cinema and learning.
The next day event of the symposium was dedicated to film education in Scottish schools during the pandemic. More information at the Film Education Journals’ event website.
