The Dupes Al-makhdu'un
Tewfik Saleh / Syria / 1972 / 107 min / Arabic
A painfully relevant film telling the story of three Palestinians belonging to three different generations, who, due to specific personal circumstances and the impossibly harsh living conditions in their home country, want to flee to Kuwait for a better life (the basic level of human dignity). The realism, seasoned with unique poetic cinematic verses and stanzas, is very extreme in directly presenting the physical, emotional and spiritual experience of the protagonists, at the same time depicting the allegory of the complex hardship of Palestinian existence.
