IMDb

When religious homemaker Bernie hires workers to fix a plumbing issue, he has no idea what he's got himself into. It turns out that they are wanted Russian criminals, determined to dismantle the house, in the hope of finding hidden valuables. The good-natured Bernie clings to his faith as the Russians continue to decimate his house, both physically and metaphorically, but when the intruders turn violent, he finally snaps. Christian by both name and faith, a devout and peaceful family man, Bernie now turns into an unspeakably ruthless and cruel avenger, determined to take back power by fair means of foul.

“Growing up watching American sitcoms back in Holland, there was not much on television. Lots of reruns of all the classic sitcoms Full House and Who’s the Boss?, that kind of stuff. I always noticed that it was such a safe world, and it was funny in a way. The idea that if something goes terribly wrong interested us for a long time. That was the start, to make ’90s sitcom and just f—k things up.” (Steffen Haars)
