Fok Nabo Distorio
Experimental abstract animation based on "Liivaterade Raamat" [excerpt] composed by Liis Viira. This short film is improvised by animating in stop-motion different objects through optical lenses. It has been done entirely on a light-box formed by three different layers of glass and many light sources in order to achieve a wider range of possibilities.
The Mist is Coming in
A man leaves the urban chaos for the silence of a mountain. He reaches a hut, only to find fog has enveloped the mountain, leaving nothing but white surroundings. He stops. The fog then reveals a tiny glimpse of the landscape. Slowly, more of the landscape appears before his eyes, taking him away on a daydream bursting with life.
Montenegro
Zinedine Zidane, why did you head butt that man?
Schemata
An ostrich is born. An elephant is killed. Two stories unravel at the same time and you are the only witness. Can you stay focused when the background and the foreground are equally important? What do you feel when the old seems new?
An Incredibly Elastic Man
A story of a man without shape. Given this ephemeral body he is forced to deal with the people, things and places that are constantly shaping him. Can one live completely detached from others, from reality? Who and what decides who we are in the end?
The Shirley Temple
The boundaries between childhood and adulthood become blurry for a kid at his mother’s cocktail party. In this experimental-narrative short, characters, symbols and abstractions interchange to examine the relationships between children and adults, escapism and sexuality.
Borislav
A fisherman’s daughter has to accept her father’s disease when she arrives at her childhood home and finds her father vulnerable and fragile.
Symphony No. 42
Applying an unconventional narrative, the film presents a subjective world through 47 scenes. The small events, interlaced by associations, express the irrational coherence of our surroundings. The surreal situations are based on the interactions of humans and nature.
The Dewberry Empire
An eight year-old girl and six year-old boy amble through a strange and still summer afternoon in a world which seems to exist only for them.
Grandfather
In a mixture of found footage and animation, the granddaughter of Fritz Hürlimann lovingly tells the story about the act and the motives for his fire assault on the PTT Hottingen in 1969.
Shell
Her house has many tiny windows, yet hidden from the outside world. Mostly she is alone, at times she dances with a man. She melts in his arms. She lives in layers, she lives in the layers of trees.
Azulejo or Visual Illusion
Azulejos represent Lisbon before the earthquake of 1755, a poem by Pessoa, an air guitar by Mario Trovador.
