Life imitates art in uncanny ways when Gemma Bovery and her husband Charles move to a charming old farmhouse in the very same Norman village where Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary a century ago. Local baker and Flaubert expert Martin Joubert becomes entranced with Gemma, and it does not take long before he is drawing parallels between the literary and real life woman.
