8th Kinotrip International Film Festival
The eighth edition of the Kinotrip International Film Festival, the biggest event of the Kinodvor’s Kinotrip – Youth for Youth programme, took place from 19 to 21 October 2023. The varied film programme was carefully selected by thirteen high school students, members of the Kinotrip Film Club. In three eventful days, young audience watched six features and a programme of shorts, while the audience award went to The Lost Boys (Zeno Graton, 2023), a powerful love story with a political edge, which shakes the notion of freedom
966 visitors, mostly young people, attended the festival. They were joined by interesting guests. Diane Ng, co-director, co-producer and one of the directors of photography of Hummingbirds (Silvia Del Carmen Castaños, Estefanía Contreras, Miguel Drake-McLaughlin), came to Ljubljana from the United States. Young people had an online conversation with Zhi Wei Jow, the Singaporean director of Tomorrow is a Long Time. After the film The Lost Boys they reflected on the cinematic representations of love of all colours with Metod Zupan, journalist and critic at Radio Student. After the sold-out screening of the short film programme Kinotripie, they talked to young filmmakers Anne Tassel (Borbike, Nika Jurman) and Ema Paš (Razgled, Ema Paš).
The final event of the festival also featured a presentation by the participants of the Kinotrip Pre-Festival Workshop. Eight young people, under the mentorship of Matevž Jerman, Olga Michalik and Matic Zavodnik, made a music video for the song Manzarek by the well-known rapper Vazza.
